Maybe we are all just socks reminds me of the sheep and the coin and there's one other thing isn't there in Luke that is not really lost but beloved by God always. I need that reminder.

This is such an important tension, but I love how you conclude -- "In this way, who we are is not an end, but more like a map pointing us Home." I also notice you quote from David G. Benner! There's so much rich food for thought in "The Gift of Being Yourself."

Yes I love that book too. I also just finished his other book Surrender to Love. Have you read it?

Yes! I have his trilogy, including those two and Desiring God’s Will. They made a true impact on me.

This article sparked a question that's been swirling in my mind: If we could rewrite the narrative of our lives, knowing what we know now, what would be the first chapter we'd tear out and rewrite? And more importantly, what would we replace it with? This piece really got me thinking about the power of perspective and how we can shape our own stories. Thank you for the food for thought!

Perspective really can shift the story. And I love your question. But I also wonder how much those chapters we might want to rip out are essential in their own way. Like…I would absolutely never ever choose the devastating losses I have had to walk through but I also hold that with the reality that those losses have greatly formed me, servicing to soften and expand and become a bit more free. It’s a hard question. But a good one. Thanks for sharing it! I always love how questions beget more questions.
